Identity Design
Branding a business is great fun — and thoughtful work. Researching the competition, interviewing the stakeholders, and thinking about the future marketplace is just a start. We also consider how people select, recommend, and interact with a client's brand. When successful, the "visual haiku" we develop is a powerful symbol of the brand’s promise. But it doesn't end there. Engaging the client's audience in a kinetic, thoughtful way with a sustainable strategy is the active part of the brand expression. It’s our favorite professional task!
Print Design
There’s still a lot of value in print communications. The tactile qualities of a paper’s weight and texture, the story unfolding in your hands — there’s anticipation when you have this THING in front of you. Colleen has used foil stamping, blind embossing, multiple spot varnish techniques, and die cutting in her work. This doesn’t make her a dinosaur. This makes her a unicorn. Some of her projects mimic antique maps with aged edges, denim with metal rivets, 45 rpm records, and faux leather. For the right project, it’s a delightful and effective way to engage your audience.
VOICES Boston: logo and website design
VOICES Boston engaged Neutra Design to help them rebrand after a name change. The new logo reflects the energy of group song, while celebrating the various vocal tones and personal backgrounds of the student members. The website design uses similar angles in the page headers and menu, continuing the theme of playful fun.
Monster: HR recruiter activation
Monster serves many audiences, including independent recruiters. Helping them be successful through workshops and training in the “Monster way” is a win/win.
AP Intego: rebrand and collateral design
AP Intego is the leading digital insurance agency for small business owners and they needed a rebrand to reflect an evolution of their product lineup. The idea of protection and partnership is evoked in the new logo design. The diagonal shape of the “protecting angle” in the A is used in much of the print collateral to keep the pieces lively and kinetic.
Perpetual Motion Adventures: logo design
PMA engaged Neutra Design to create a flexible identity that would work in print and social media. Offering biking vacations of every type — from trail-riding camping trips to the smooth asphalt of the French alps — the new logo embraces the full spectrum of cycling adventure.
MassBike: rebrand and item design
A grass-roots advocacy group founded in 1977, the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition (MassBike) recognized the need for new branding. Working with Neutra Design, a new logo and branding was developed. The result is a bold, clean logo that works well on a variety of media.
"I had the pleasure of working with Colleen for several years at Putnam. Colleen is an intelligent and amazingly driven, energetic, and organized person with a strong dedication and commitment to the organization's goals and her clients’ needs. Her work is beautiful and consistently on strategy. She has a keen sense for the right approach for getting to the heart of every creative project. Colleen brings creativity, humor, and thoughtful consideration to every project, and is a pleasure to work with. I recommend Colleen wholeheartedly."
